Will I Qualify?

Do I Qualify?
Being that each clinical trial has its own specific set of requirements, a patient should review the eligibility criteria before enrolling in a clinical trial. Volunteers would be wise to evaluate the characteristics found within the study, to determine if the study is a suitable match.

What Should I Know?
For a volunteer looking to determine the ‘whole picture’ as it relates to the clinical study, it may be meaningful to know the requirements of the study. For example, some studies may require the volunteer to spend an extended period as an in-patient (in-clinic) or a study might call for multiple screening sessions. It’s important to understand these requirements to ensure the rigors of the study fit with your schedule.

The following information is what a volunteer should know before joining a clinical trial:

  • Duration of the study (timeline)
  • Purpose of the study
  • Types of data to be collected from participants
  • Number of participants required for a successful trial
  • Drugs (including dosage amounts), schedule for tests, hospital visits, strategy for conducting clinical trial
  • Eligibility (acceptable characteristics)
