Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ACD)

60% faster enrollment than initial study projections

Learn how 1nHealth was able to fully enroll a study 60% faster than expectations.

50%

of all submissions qualified for referrals.

2.5x

faster study enrollment than projected.

Accelerated Enrollment

Key Insight: The challenge with shorter studies is that every day counts, and there is a temptation to minimize A/B testing and optimization efforts. But that will have disastrous down-funnel effects that put enrollment projections in jeopardy. Without testing, you risk wasting time and resources on strategies that may fall flat.

The challenge

Innovative Enrollment: Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease (ACD) remains a global health challenge, requiring out-of-the-box thinking. By prioritizing research and clinical trials, we can transform care for millions, reducing the burden of ACD and paving the way for longer, healthier lives. 1nHealth was asked to recruit 50 adults (between 40-75 years old) with current diagnosis and elevated risk of cardiovascular disease in a US-based decentralized study.

The strategy

Wide-Reaching Approach: 1nHealth launched a targeted recruitment campaign for middle-aged to older adults on Facebook and Reddit as well as search engine platforms like Google. Creative was designed to be inviting and representative of the population age we were targeting, and messaging was educational and empowering.

Patient-Centric Messaging
Create awareness about ACD risk factors (such as high cholesterol and hypertension) through targeted ads on social media platforms. Messaging focused on prevention and early intervention, such as “understand your heart health and help advance research".
Seamless UX Experience
Because we were recruiting to enroll middle-aged to older adults, we knew the user experience had to be as intuitive as possible. Creative was unified across each step of the enrollment funnel so that no matter where a patient was on the enrollment journey they understood it was all part of the same process.

The solution

Keeping Pace: Short clinical trials demand speed, but sacrificing A/B testing can lead to recruitment inefficiencies. A/B testing identifies what works best—whether it’s messaging, visuals, or platforms—allowing for data-driven adjustments that boost performance. In trials where results are needed quickly, optimization ensures resources are used efficiently and effectively. Even in limited timeframes, testing can uncover insights that improve participant engagement and enrollment rates, reducing screen fails, and ensuring faster down-funnel progression.

The results

Accelerated Enrollment: The timeline target was 2-4 weeks, but enrollment goals were met within 10 days. This was due in part to the qualification rate—we estimated it would be 25% but by the end of the campaign over 50% of all submissions were converted into referrals. The fight against ACD hinges on medical innovation. Breakthroughs in prevention and treatment have the potential to save millions of lives. With fully enrolled clinical studies, we can mitigate the devastating impact of ACD and bring hope to those living with this life-altering condition.
