What is the purpose of this study?

The purpose of this study is to see how the study drug is tolerated in people who recently had a stomach infection caused by bacteria called Clostridium difficile (sometimes referred to as C. diff) compared with placebo (an inactive material in a capsule that will be identical to the study drug). The study will also look at how well the study drug can help prevent future episodes of C. difficile infection compared with placebo.

Is my confidential health information protected?

All reasonable efforts will be taken to keep all medical records and research materials that could identify you confidential. You will only be identified by a code in all data collected for the study. You will not be identified by name nor initials.

Is my participation voluntary and can I withdraw at any time?

Yes, participation in this study is voluntary. You also may stop participating in this study at any time, without giving a reason. If you do not want to participate or want to withdraw, your regular medical care and legal rights will not be affected.
