Do I need to be diagnosed with bipolar disorder to participate?

Yes, the study requires that you have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder and have tried a medication for bipolar disorder in the past 5 years. You do not need to be taking medication currently or be under psychiatric care currently to qualify.

What is the study medication?

NRX-101 is a capsule that combines two medications that are already FDA-approved for other uses. The medications are D-cycloserine and lurasidone HCI (commonly used to treat bipolar disorder).

Is there a placebo group?

There is no placebo group in this study but there is a control group. The control group will receive only lurasidone, instead of the study drug NRX-101 which combines lurasidone and D-cycloserine.

Is there any cost to participate?

All study-related care is provided at no cost and travel is reimbursed.

How long is the study?

The length of study participation is approximately 10 weeks.

Is there compensation for my participation?

Yes, there is compensation available for participation and travel. Compensation amounts are determined on a site-by-site basis. Please check with your site for more information.

Is participation voluntary?

Yes, participation is completely voluntary and can be ended at any time.
